We install replacement cavity wall ties into new positions staggered from the original cavity wall ties.
Cavity wall tie replacement is carried out in a uniform spacing pattern: typically in a diamond formation with new remedial cavity wall ties at 900mm centres in courses set 450mm apart. At door and window openings the new wall tie spacing is reduced to 300mm vertically.
Once the replacement cavity wall ties have been installed the original cavity wall ties then need to be isolated to prevent further damage being caused to the outer skin of the cavity wall from wall tie corrosion. Isolation of the original cavity wall ties can be achieved by fitting sleeves or foam around the external end of the cavity wall tie.
