All of our Bowing Wall remedial repair works are undertaken by time served , directly employed and trained Wall tie Installation operatives working to the relevant British Standards.

We only use materials that have appropriate certification such as BBA approval and stock a large range of stainless steel lateral restraints to suit many types of bowed wall repairs.

Bowing walls can have a number of causes. Cavity Wall tie failure over an area of wall can cause the outer skin of brickwork to move away from the inner skin causing a visible bow within the wall surface. New replacement brick ties can ensure that the wall does not deteriate beyond its current position.

A lack of lateral restraint – particularly to gable end walls can cause a bowing wall whether the brickwork is a solid or cavity wall. This often occurs when the external wall was not tied into the floor and roof timbers of the property during construction.

We often find ourselves providing lateral restraint to bowed gable ends of houses that are only 20 years old.

Lateral restraint to bowing walls is typically provided by drilling a series of holes through from the outside to correspond with the position of internal timber roof rafters and floor joists to higher levels.

A long length of 10mm threaded bar is then screwed through from the outside and into the timbers. Once in place the threaded bar is resined into the brickwork to lock it into place.

This allows the weight of the property to act as an anchor to the bowing wall , it will hold it in its current position and prevent any further bowing from occurring.
