A survey carried out on behalf of a prospective purchaser highlighted a vertical crack in the brickwork to the ground floor of this property in Deal, Kent.
Our own survey identified that the cause of the cracked brickwork was the presence of large, heavily corroded bolts within the face of the brickwork. Possibly fixings for an old gate.
As the bolts had corroded and delaminated they had expanded in size causing the brickwork to crack vertically.
We removed all remnants of the original bolts before carrying out crack stitching repairs using lengths of helical bar as reinforcement. These were placed into pre cut slots and resined into position to provide a permanent crack repair.
